@ the Osteopath at Work

Find an osteopath Default Pic 2This scheme provides workplace clinics for employers in the Bedford area. The experience of a number of companies (for instance Standard Life and BP) shows that having an on-site osteopathic clinic, on a weekly or fortnightly basis substantially reduces time taken off for appointments, as well as reducing days lost to sick leave. Pre-emptive treatment prevents the development of minor problems into major disorders such as repetitive strain injury, and means that in many cases there is no need to take sick leave.

On-site clinics allow staff to get rapid treatment for musculo-skeletal disorders, and bring about a reduction in time off work for appointments as employees are able to receive treatment on-site.

If you would like to enquire about workplace clinics or osteopathy for your staff please call Sorrel on 07966 071661.

Conditions treated by osteopaths

Spacer - no image here by defaultOsteopathic treatment can help many musculoskeletal conditions. These include joint and muscle sprains due to acute injuries, as well as chronic problems such as neck and shoulder pain. It can often alleviate the problems associated with stress and tension including headaches. Osteopathy is also an effective treatment for asthma and irritable bowel syndrome.

Conditions treated include: headaches, jaw problems, neck pain, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, wrist & arm pain, hip, knee and leg problems, back pain, disc problems and sciatica.

Those who have suffered whiplash or other trauma or who suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome may benefit enormously.

Visceral problems such as irritable bowel syndrome, period pains, abdominal & pelvic pain, asthma & breathing problems can also be treated effectively.

What is osteopathic treatment like?

Spacer - no image here by defaultOsteopathy is now recognised as an effective treatment for a wide range of painful disorders. It helps restore the function of the musculoskeletal system (joints, muscles and ligaments). The aim is to relieve pain and get you going again as quickly as possible. Patients of all ages can obtain benefit. The treatment is tailored to suit each individual patient.

Osteopathic treatment consists of gentle movements of the joints and stretching of the muscles, ligaments and fascia. Treatment is not painful and rarely uncomfortable. Rhythmical movements of the spine and other joints may be used to aid relaxation.

Osteopathy is for everyone

Find an osteopath Default Pic 2Osteopathy is suitable for all ages from infancy to old age. It can be of benefit to manual workers and office workers, sportsmen and women, musicians, dancers and other performers. Women can derive great benefit during pregnancy, as osteopathic treatment can alleviate many of the aches and pains associated with pregnancy and can help to prepare the woman for labour. After the birth, osteopathic treatment may help the woman's body to recover from the pregnancy, as well as helping her baby to recover from the birth.

Children and adolescents may need treatment for glue ear, spinal asymmetry, sports-related injuries or developmental problems (growing pains).
